The “Fête de la Saint Jean” is celebrated every June 24th throughout France. I’m always fascinated by how customs and holidays that we take for granted have very interesting origins that we have forgotten with time.

A festival spawned from an age-old custom… The Festival of Lights extends the traditional festival of December 8th when the residents of Lyon celebrate the Virgin Mary, whose statue stands on Fourvière hill overlooking the city.
